What do you mean by being remotely connected? If you mean is there a way to remotely program or monitor/modify then the answer is yes.
One solution is to use a Teleservice adapter in stead of a RS232/MPI adapter and a modem, preferably an industrial modem and not a standard one. This has the disadvantage that is is really slow and costs a lot being connected. It is also the safest way, because there is almost no way to break in to the connection.
Another way is to place a PC directly connected to the PLC and use software such as TightVNC (freeware) to take over the local PC remotely. This can be done over Internet, which is a lot faster.
And there are also third-party MPI adapters available that connect directly to an Ethernet, so you can use a router and Internet to connect.
Kind regards,
