1747-pic

Hello fellows,

I am fairly new to plc's, and I have encounter a problem trying to interface with a SLC 500 unit. I am using and interface converter (1747-PIC)in order to communicate with the plc,and I am using 1747-PIC/AIC+Driver, as a driver in RSLinx.

After configuring the device,the driver fails to start,and I am not able to start it by selecting in the list.

I have interface before in the past with this plc using an older laptop with windows 98 without any issues. The lap top that I am currently using runs windows XP. I did change my RSLinx from an application to a regular program as the help menu suggested, but I am still not able to interface. Any ideas out there?

Does your pc have a real serial port, or are you using a usb/serial converter?

The PIC doesn't work under XP SP3 without some modifications to the system. See the link below.

After it worked for over a year I had major issues after going to SP2 of Windows XP. NOT SP3 - I had issues with SP2. I highly recommend you get a 1747-UIC. This is an Allen-Bradley USB to DH-485 converter. Alternatively GIT has an offer here: http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showpost.php?p=349601&postcount=12

COOL! I will give it a try, I have A LOT of customers looking for something just like this, would you care if I put it on my website?
