Problem with ethernet communication micrologix

I am trying to connect my computer to micrologix 1100 ser A via ethernet switch. I am using rslinx 2.53.00.05, my computer IP address and subnet is 192.168.1.101/255.255.255.0
plc ip and subnet are 192.168.1.104/255.255.255.0 (they were entered into plc using serial connection)
I tried two different drives by maually entering the ip addresses ip addresses(ethernet devices) and ethernet/ip driver. All I get on the PLC in RSWHO is a big yellow question mark with a red x on it. ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Can you ping it and did you disable Bootp

Which driver are you using in RSLinx. I use the Ethernet/IP driver.

I 2nd this as well.
If you haven't disabled boot TP it loses the IP address settings on power up.

Bootp is unchecked in plc channel 1. I am not familiar with pinging. how do you do that?

Open command prompt and type in "ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx isyour actual IP adres to ping.
I think commnd prompt is under accessories.
Do not include the "" part.

ethernet cable is MC5 cable, CAT5e, P/N: MC5-8-T-07-02 FROM SIEMON

Unfortunately, left the computer at home, i will do do it tonight.
What kind of response should i expect after pinging.

Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=60
If you get the above 3 times you're pinging the plc.

I've always used Ethernet driver for micrologix, never IP.
But if the IP driver works for you, go for it.

Since your going from an ethernet switch then you should not need a crossover cable. But to elimiate the switch I would plug directly into the PLC with a crossover cable then ping it.

Also when you are entering the adress into RS Links make sure you do not use leading zeros.. IE 192.168.001.104 will not work 192.168.1.104 will work.

ethernet ip will find it automatically as long as everything is correct on the ip side between the pc and the plc.

i tried to ping the plc and I got the message "destination host unreachable"
