Hi all,
Can any of our Siemens experts, clue me into how I can use my PG [Laptop] and my OP connected at the same time to the CPU on a MPI network?
Typically I use "Low" end S7-300 cpu's (i.e. with only 1 x connection port, 312,314 etc)
I obviously program with a PC adaptor connected into the Cpu and then remove to connect my OP, which is programmed via a serial download. form my PG. this mthod is Ok until I wish to monitor or modify the program online with the OP still attached. As I have to remove one or the other to achieve access.
I understand that Siemens do not have a MPI connector by part No. but they can use a profibus connector with a Piggy back. The way this was described to me was that I would use a 2 x Profibus connectors with cable and wire from the OP to the Cpu leaving this in place so I could "Plug" in to the MPI network without having to power off the units. However this costs a bit for this feature in connectors as I would have thought there would be a connector available for this. I don't mind having to power off either and plugging in a connector for commisioning that would allow me this, but I do not want the cost of leaving this in the machine every time I do it. Does anyone have an easier way. I am not that familar with Networking but can I make my own special lead / connector for this purpose.
Cheers
Mylo
