This is the problem that I've been encountered for many years. In my shop, I have a SLC500 7-slot rack/power supply and a CPU SLC5/05 with no I/O cards. If I take any real field program and load it into the processor, it will issue a fault (of course, and I knew that). What is the workaround to make the processor disregard the non-existing I/O's and continues to run?

This feature is already existed with the GE9030 PLC. All I have to do is to clear PLC and I/O faults and the program continues to process. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

There's an array of bits in the Status file that enable I/O scanning for each slot in the SLC-500. Turn them to "0" and the controller will go into RUN mode even if the modules aren't present.

Words S:11 and S:12 cover the 30 available slots.

The main drawback is that you can't go into RUN mode if you have more I/O configured than are actual slots in the chassis. My HMI-testing chassis is 13 slots for that very reason. You also can't run if you have M0/M1 file references to a disabled slot.

I thought that I did turn off S11.. before and still didn't work. It sounds to me that my test rack is too short (7slot). I have another 10-slot rack and I will give it a try. Thanks for the tips.
