Newbie Here, go easy.:D

I am trying to connect to the GOT1050 HMI. I have a standard RS232 Cable with RS232 to USB for the laptop. When trying to communicate with the HMI is does not recognise this on any port on my laptop. Can anyone suggest where am i going wrong. The HMI does not have a USB connection, only RS232.
Do i need a special cable for this?

Help im going daft with this.
