Panelview plus communication

hi,

i have a problem with panelview plus communication with slc 5/05.I connected my PV+ through a switch to SLC 5/05.I got communication with PV+ and SLC5/05.But when i connected PV+ to SLC 5/05 direct it is not communicating.anybody please give me a advice.
 
With a switch you would use a patch cord ( straight thru cable).
With a direct connect you would use a cross-over cable. Are you ?
