I have 3 PF 70 drives that are going to be connected to a 1747-SN module via RIO. Two of the drives are at firmware 5.001 and one of the drives is at firmware 3.002. Is it worth while upgrading the firmware on the one drive from 3.002 to 5.001? or is the system not going to notice the difference?

From a communication perspective there is no difference.

There is no check of product type or firmware revision over RIO, just Rack Number, Starting Group, and Rack Size.
