Hi, I have an existing piece of equipment it has the following set up
5/04 processor
1761-NET-AIC

DH+ port is connected to a PV
And the rs-232 port is connected to the 1761-NET-AIC
I want to upload the code from the processor thru the
1761-NET-AIC, and then download the same program to another SLC 5/04 with the same set up.

My question is how do I get online with the SLC 5/04 thru the 1761-NET-AIC in order to upload/download?
This is the first time I have to do this thru the 1761-NET-AIC.
Thanks
I do have the 1747-UIC available

Usually the presence of a 1761-NET-AIC suggests that the serial port of the SLC-5/04 controller is configured for DH-485 protocol.

To connect to this SLC, then, you need to plug into the 1761-NET-AIC with your 1747-UIC device*. You can use either of the serial ports on the 1761-NET-AIC; whichever isn't connected to the SLC-5/04 serial port. Depending on whatever else is connected to the 1761-NET-AIC (usually via the network trunk) you can plug in somewhere else on the DH-485 network as well.

*If you have a built-in serial port an Windows XP previous to SP3, you can use the "1747-PIC/AIC+" driver in RSLinx Classic and omit the 1747-UIC device. Windows XPSP3 requires a hack, Windows Vista/7 and USB/RS232 will not work at all.

Thanks Ken. On the AIC the 9Pin D-shaped port is unused. And I wanted to be sure that I can access this port either using a 1747-CP3 Cable or the 1747-UIC.

And would the set up in RsLinx be the same as connecting directly to the SLC 5/04 Port 0 that is set up for dh485?

Thanks Ken. I was able to get upload/download the code. Only thing I had to change in RsLinks was the error checking to CRC
