First time Siemens PLC user

I'm using this siemens PLC for the first time not quite sure how to connect to it i'm using Step 7 and its the CPU315-2 DP
 
also i'm hooked up through the serial port to usb was wondering how to assign an ip to it as well so i can hook up through ethernet
