The pins on my 9 pin d shell connector on programming laptop broke, years of programming. I have a PCMK card and wanted to know if anyone has every programmed a S7-200 and Direct Logic 205 PLC using the PCMK card and cable? I have the PPI-RS485 adapter for the S7-200 and I have the cables for the Directlogic plc. Anyone ever try connecting the PCMK cable to the PPI adapter and then to the S7-200? Same as for the DL205? Just trying to find a way around to program rather than buying a new motherboard.

The Dsub-9 connector on a 1784-PCM5 cable (for the 1784-PCMK Card) is an Allen-Bradley "Peer Communication Link", or Data Highway Plus network connector.

It is not an RS-232 serial port, despite having the same physical connector. You'll find a lot of that in the industrial world; see how many different serial and feedback connectors use the RJ45 that is most common commercially as Ethernet !

Hopefully somebody with PPI and DirectLogic serial driver experience will be able to weigh in on PCMCIA or USB/RS232 interfaces for those purposes.
