This is regards to an SLC500, which has a Basic Module attached to the backplane. We use this for a barcode and printer application. The scanner had met its demise by one of our operator; I guess you can really complain it lasted over 3 years.
I’m having some issue with the configuration of the scanner properties. The Basic port for the scanner that I can see from the module program print out is (Mode PRT1,9600,E,7,1,N,R). When I scan my part using the “HyperTerminalI can see my part number ok. When I hook it back to the module and scan my part and look at the String Data I can only see part of the part number.
Is there a buffer memory area in the Basic Module that I have to clear before configuring the scanner?

Thanks
Randy

Yes, there is a buffer in the module. I don't have my old programs handy, but there is an output to set that will clear the buffer.

I think I can download the Basic manual from A-B website...

Thanks for your input,

Randy

Check jumper JW4...Details are as under..

Module Jumper JW4
Use jumper JW4 to select one of the following configurations for the module ports.
• PRT1 Port = Program port with default communication settings
PRT2 Port = ASCII interface port
DH485 Port = Run time DH485 operation only
• PRT1 Port = ASCII interface port
PRT2 Port = ASCII interface port
DH485 Port = Program port with DH485 protocol
• PRT1 Port = Program port with programmed communication settings
PRT2 Port = ASCII interface port
DH485 Port = Run time DH485 operation only
• PRT1 Port = Program port with programmed communication settings
PRT2 Port = DF1 protocol
DH485 Port = Disabled

secondly if u r using "hyperterminal" instead of "PBASE" be sure to keep the broadrate low..preferably 600..I have faced problem during downloading that part of line get corrupted.
