PID Loops

hi guys. im knew to the technical side of things. i have a fair understanding of what a PID loop does. but can someone pls help me understand the P, I AND D parameters and what each one's function is....P = Porportional I = Integral D = Derivative, laymens terms would be nice :nodi:
