I have a PV-550 [2711-T5A3L1] that speaks RS-485 only. If i get a 1747-PIC cable, which is a "Personal Computer Interface Converter converts RS-232 signals to/from RS-485 signals. Use to transfer applications between a DH-485 terminal and a computer", it terminates in a 9 pin female D-connector. To get the communication with a Windows 7 computer running the latest linksys and PanelBuilder, i will have to use yet another converter to go from RS-232 to USB.
Is this likely to work? The PV-550 is in the field and not on the workbench. I don't currently own a 1747-PIC. I do have a collection of RS-232 to USB converters. Which one works with which system is a dice throw. We keep notes.
