DH485 to RS232

It would probably be helpful if you described your purpose in getting access to Ethernet.
There is huge differences in being able to send messages on Ethernet and being able to access the CPU from Ethernet.
I often find it useful to look at the AB website for things like this - they have some schematics which show how to get the various processors connected to various things.
Personally I would use the serial port on the processor for messaging on RS232

The model of SLC-500 is important, since some models don't have DH-485.

I remember you have an Ethernet/Serial server that runs with COM Port Redirector software, which forwards your computer's serial requests across the TCP network to the server device.

This works well with the RSLinx Classic DF1 Full Duplex driver and the 1747-KE module.

You won't have the "Autoconfigure" function, but if you carefully configure the serial speed and framing and COM port number, you should easily be able to access the DH485 network side of the 1747-KE, and therefore the SLC-500 controller.

My goal is to use RSlink and factory talk over eithernet to the PLC. I do want to access the Processor. I have checked the AB web site but it seems there are so many different ways to do things I just wanted another opinion. My RJ45 is DH485 from my Fixed Style SLC 500. And from what I read the 1747-KE modual converts DH485 to RS232. Thanks for verifying this for me.
Not having Auto configure will just make it that much more fun :0)
