Hi all,

I'm using WAGO 750-842 PLC with Ethernet port. I've connected its Ethernet port to my Window 7 laptop using a crossover cable. I'm trying to use my laptop to control it through CoDeSys v2.3.

I've tried to assign IP to the PLC using BootP server from WAGO. When it should request Ethernet address from PLC Mac ID, it keep request Ethernet address from my laptop Physical address.

Is there anything that i'm missing?

Thank you^^

please see attached for setting IP address for wago 842 plc

make sure there are no "#" on this field in the bootp text file:

Wago:ht=1:ha=0030DE001234:ip=192.168.1.2:sm=255.255.0.0:

*make sure to power cycle the PLC after starting bootp server

good luck!

thx for the reply^^

i've seen this manual before and tried it,but it still failed to find my PLC MAC ID>.<
i'll post the print screen tommorow^^

Download "Wago Ethernet" from their site.
It is a free appication.
Run it and scan for Wago PLC.
When it finds it, re-assign the PLC IP Address to whatever IP you need to.
Then from the same app, disable the BootTP and HTTP on the PLC.
It should be as easy as 1-2-3.
After that, hook up your PC with a crossover cable to the Wago controller and go online.
You can create a visualization page within the project and use it with your PC to monitor modify the actual program, variables, etc.

I tried WAGO Ethernet too and it cant find my PLC.
The Ethernet address in BootP server is not the Mac ID i set in bootpad>.<

ya,i'm using crossover cable,is it it will works as long as it is crossover cable?or there are different type of crossover cable?

Set your PC (Ethernet) to something like
IP:192.168.1.1
Sub:255.255.0.0

Try to assign the wago controller the following:
IP:192,168.1.3
Sub:255.255.0.0

From the screen shots your network card doesn't appear to be assigned a fixed IP.
Remember to disable BootTP when you manage to assign the controller a fixed IP.

Since you are attempting to connect directly to the PLC with a crossover cable, there's no need to mess with Gateway and such.

1. You can not use X.X.X.1 address as this is usually reserved for the switch/router gateway (usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) ==> you can use any address from 2-254 for the last part of the ip address (ex: 192.168.1.150)

2. The default subnet mask for this class of IP address is 255.255.255.0

hopefully this should solve your problem =)

Do you have a serial or usb cable with your plc?
then you can use ethernet settings program via serial port.

Set computer on manual IP address. like 192.168.1.123
reset computer
attach PLC or via a hub with normal cables (nice way to see if it is working via the leds.
then do a ping on your network.
or have a look at connections.
is the server running (see bottom right of screen) ?
with firefox type the following address 192.168.1.1
if no reply next one 192.168.1.2
etc.
standard could be 192.168.1.10 i dont know anymore.
