hi

im trying to rehost activations for RSL500, 5000, networxs and view studio ME, the laptop im moving them from is running an old version of factory talk activation tool, and im unable to load the new software as the IT dept dont trust anyone so its locked down.

so far ive been able to delete the file and has given me a REHOST code, serial number and your host ID, when i go onto the rockwell rehost activations website it says that i need a host ID im guessing from my new laptop, how do i go about finding this?

is this the best way to swap over the licenses or is there a much easier way?

You need to start Factory Talk Activation Manager on the new computer, and use the create a new activation to get either the hard disk serial number, or the ethernet adapter number. Then use this when you go to the Rockwell website to rehost.

To Re-host you need the hardware ID it was activated on(your old laptop)this can be hard drive, nic. This will re host your license back to the ab server.

When you Re-activate to the new laptop you will need it's hardware id.

i can do the activation its just with the older activation software, maybe i should just wait till IT can install me the later version of FTA

Nothing wrong with the old software. If you want select the no internet access option and it will give you the rehost info and you can put it in by hand on the ab activation site.
