I'm doing a small project to count misloads on a machine. Three consecutive misloads from any feeder will result in the machine stopping. The machine is an older relay machine, not too complicated, but I'm installing a Siemens 312 CPU to do the counting (there are 14 feeders total that need to be monitored independintly).
The misfeed sensor already exists on the feeders and outputs a 120VAC signal. I will be installing a sensor to detect each load section of the chain conveyor. My worry is that this machine has a little under a second cycle time. I figure the misfeed sensor will only be high for ~0.3sec/cycle and the chain conveyor sensor will be high for 0.05-0.1sec/cycle.
In the past I have generally worked with purly DC machines and I'm a little concerned about the lag time of the AC input cards. Most of the Siemen's AC DI card have a delay of 25mS. If my signals are occuring at regular intervals will this delay cause me a problem?
