Hello,

We are currently building a panel for a European customer. It is a small system with PLC+HMI that controlls a couple och external dosage pumps 4-5 24V DC valves. It is supplied by 1 phase 230V 50Hz.

Now the customer is about to start exporting to the US. What do we need to take in to consideration? Does it need to be certified by a UL inspector or is it enough to use UL components?

Please advise.

It depends on your customer's and their customers' requirements.

If their requirement is UL, then just using UL components does not meet the requirement. There are specific design considerations that need to be designed into the product beyond just using UL components.

However, a bigger concern for the US would be the 1-phase, 230V, 50Hz...

If possible try to have all running on 24 Volts like the HMI and the PLC, Now you only need a power supply with UL.
And nowadays most powersupplies can run from 95 to 240 The client does not need to change anything on his machine.
If you use a external PSU your box can have anything inside as it is a safe voltage.
