scenario :
32 Factorylink workstations
Each workstation communicates to a local PLC5
Each PLC5 gathers data from a CIMs system
All 32 workstations collect and store 90 days of data
in case of communication loss to the data collector.
A single data collector server collects data from each work station and sends that data to the SCAQMD in Southern California on a daily basis
The work station at each local CIM is also used for local
maintenance of the individual CIM
The workstations communicate to the PLC5's using DH+
Whats my problem,
Reduce the 32 work stations to a set of servers in hot backup
and still support local Maintenance access.
Add another server for the data collector.
Put these three servers on UPS all located in a single 19 inch
rack. Link all PLC's to a fiber optic line, running back
to the server racks.
I was thinking of using an Android PAD for local Maintenance
and replacing the PLC5's with Compact Logix, and store
the 90 days of data on the PLC.
What problems do you guys see with this idea.
Alternatives are welcome.
