win7-xp pro emulation in VM Ware

Hi, i have an xp pro virtual machine running S5 and S7 within windows 7 enterprise. The S5 works fine except it will only run in a window. I am told S5 will run full screen in VM WARE. Having installed vmware V4.0 how do i import xp pro. There is no import link in vmware. Thanks

There is an import option, but I used version 7, now 8 of VMware. Not sure about version 4. Are you using workstation or player or server?

i am using player. I used v4 player because its a free download.

I use VMWare Player with the free 'XP Mode' from Microsoft. When I first set it up, I used this tutorial. Works great for me...

Step 5 from Siemens is a DOS based program.
It will always open in a command window (the DOS in Windows window), which is not resizeable.
If you want it to run fullscreen, your VMware is going to need DOS as OS, not XP.

Not sure why you need it fullscreen though.


To get a current install into a VMware, there's this tool that can convert the HW install to a VM install.
Haven't used it yet, so no idea how it works.
