how is it possible to get different manufacturers on the same physical
networks to keep the costs down for scada networks
 
1) Use a de facto standard protocol like Modbus RTU for all devices,.

2) Use some kind of communications bridge to convert various protocols to a common one.

3) Use multiple comm ports and drivers in a Wndows based SCADA system that supports multiple protocols and acess to multiple PLCs.
