Hey everybody. I am doing a proposal for a customer, and one of the requirements he's given me is for a "NEMA 12 panel with air purge regulator". I've asked for clarification, but from my searches, it looks like air purging of an enclosure is related to explosion proofing. Any ideas? Any product suggestions?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Is the panel for a hazardous area (gas or dust) or are they just trying to keep the inside of the enclosure clean? If the panel is going in a hazardous area you should have designations like "Class I, Division 2, Group D" listed.
Panel purge kits for this type of application can be purchased from Bebco (now pepperl-fuchs).

A purge/relief system like above is a good idea; believe it or not, inert gas or air purging of enclosures can actually be tricky.

Even when using a premade purge system, I still insist on installing a low pressure blowoff device on the enclosure to prevent too much pressure build up (usually 2psi or under).
