The rung-condition-in for the rung containing the MAG instruction needs to be true for as long as the axii gearing condition is to be active.
In the manual
"This is a transitional instruction:
• In relay ladder, toggle the rung-condition-in from cleared to set each time
the instruction should execute."
I have always programmed it this way and never had any issues
