basic plc to desktop computer connection

I have a pc running windows ME with rslynx and rslogix 5 on it, and I have an AB plc 5/40 processor I want to be able to program from the computer. Do I need a special interface card for the computer or can I just buy a 9 pin cable that plugs into both?

tip: you probably won't need the little jumpers ... just the three wires 2-2 and 3-3 and 5-7 ...
