Hi,
I have a project with several 1756-IF16 analogue input modules. I can use the modules channel fault bit to display a fault message on my HMI but I do not know what is classed as a fault? Would a short circuit or open circuit be detected on a channel and set the fault bit? I think open circuit would but I am unsure if short circuit would & don't fancy testing it. I have seen programmers check the scaled max and min values e.g. 4-20mA (3 or less would be open circuit & 21 or more would be short circuit) but I dont know if this is common practice.

Thanks
Paul.
