I would like to grab PLC data (SLC5/03) and grapf it on computer. I assume I will be connecting to 232 port on processor. Any ideas on how to get started?

Checkout RSLinx OEM, Part# 9355-WABOEMENE. Or RSLinx Professional, Part# 9355-WABENE.

DDE/OPC server (like RSLinx) + Excel.
The level of difficulty depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

If you are only communicating with one SLC you might want to use RSLinx single node, it's less expensive ($400) and will still let you communicate DDE with Excel or other windows programs.
