does anyone know if rockwell has developed a patch for USB recognition
my company does not enjoy the prospect of purchasing a pcmcia card.

Yes

What you need is called a 1747-UIC interface ($260 US list)

As far as I know Rockwell supports USB to serial converters for DF1 protocol - they have a list of tested devices somethere in KB.

9300-USBS is a new Rockwell's product for USB to serial except DH-485 devices.
For DH-485 1747-UIC was mentioned in previous post.

1747-USB cane use either for DF1 and PIC ,But it not good for other PLCs who need serial port.
