is there a log kept in a plc-5 as far as faults or anything else and where do i find it and if not can i start one

There is a log. Problem is, it's only one word long. You could write a fault routine with some MOV/COP type instructions to create an actual log. There's all kinds of processor diagnostic stuff in the Processor Status section of the project folder.
