Hi Guys
I am doing some testing about the message between SCL5/05 and CLX (all are 255.255.255.0), when IP for CLX is 10.1.1.1, IP for SLC is 10.1.1.2, I could read/write date between them, when I change SCL to 10.1.2.2, I still could read /write date. when I update SLC to 10.2.2.2, it failed. what is the reason?

thanks

Because with that mask (255.255.255.0) 10.2.2.2 is on a different subnet and won't connect.

The OP changed his original SLC address of 10.1.1.2 to 10.1.2.2, he still connected, with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 and by all the rules of subnetting, he shouldn't have done.

I suspect he didn't actually complete the change to 10.1.2.2, and was still on 10.1.1.2

Thanks for coming back angi....

Do you understand why 10.2.2.2 failed when 10.1.1.2 was successful ? I can do a quick easy explain if you don't understand the subnet mask...
