Following cable is available: 3 twisted pairs, overall shielded, steel armored, PVC insulated, 0.75 sq mm stranded copper conductor

Can this instrumentation cable be used for RS422 communication over a distance of about 500 m with data rate of 9.6 K or 19.2 K bps?

geniusintraining, thanks for the reply.

I asked the question because normally 24 AWG twisted pair cables with 100 ohm characteristic impedance and low mutual capacitance are recommended for RS422. I don't have characteristic impedance and mutual capacitance data for the cable which I have mentioned. I wanted to know if anybody has successfully used standard shielded twisted pair instrumentation cable (which are used for 4-20mA signals) for low data rate communication for a distance of about 500m.

Sure it will work.

If you have problems with it just blame me. ;)
