I have a PLC 5 that has multiple input cards, where the LED is on the card is on, but the data table is not updating. I am suspecting either the Rack or the CPU. There may have also been a similar problem on an output but that was before I got there.

This thread http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=7094 seems to confirm either rack or cpu and possibly power supply. I'm going to see what spare parts I have, unfortunately, they do not have a spare CPU, and that is not a cheap thing to get a spare for.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has any ideas.

Another one that might seem silly, but are you looking at the right place in the input image table? The PLC/5 does not necessarily address by the physical slot number of the chassis.

Users who are familiar with SLC500s can be tripped up by the PLC/5 rack/group addressing. The chassis (hardware) is not the same thing as a rack (logical), and a slot (physical hardware slot in a chassis) is not the same thing as a group (logical). IOW, an input card in physical slot 3 is not necessarily addressed at I:3/XX. Review the PLC/5 addressing manual if you are unfamiar with PLC/5 addressing.
