We are currently using the **** Cosy 141 for remote management access to our customers sites.
The product is working great.

The Phoenix rep stopped by, and of course he'd like to own all the components in the panel. He's sending over info and pricing on the Phoenix MGuard.

Are these two products comparable? I don't hear much on this site about the MGuard. Any users out there?

I've looked at these products in the past too, biggest difference is that the **** uses connections to their servers. So you are dependent on your office connection to the server, then the server to the remote site. If for some reason **** servers are down, your connection is down. I think they have data restrictions and subscriptions you have to pay for?

The MGuard creates a direct VPN tunnel to from your office to the remote site, negating any third party server and potential downtime do to the third party. However it does require hardware on both ends and a bit more to configure. If I recall the hardware in your office supports up to 250 connections, so I don't think you have to worry much long-term. I think there is a license cost based on number of connections you wish but I can't remember.

I would be curious of overall performance, I would think the direct VPN tunnel would be a faster connection as you aren't going through a third party, but I'm not a network specialist so I'm not sure.

They should do the same thing, I guess I would look at the cost difference and make them give you a heck of a deal to switch. Why switch just because?

If you want a great connection with sissy security then go witm M Guard or ****.

As Paully's5.0 said with **** you can be dependant on them in many ways and a 3rd party is involved.

If you want a secure setup go with Tofino security appliance. This gives you an industrial level firewall that is designed and engineered from the ground up to secure industrial equipment and networks.

They have point to point hardware VPN options where there is hardware on each end and this is good for connecting remote sites to your plant.

If you want remote management of equipment at customer sites for repairs, upgrades, warranty issues, etc then you would use the VPN software on your end and you can manage many tofinos without neededing hardware on your end.
