I believe this is the first Siemens acquired/developed comms protocol which could be seamlessly integrated within a Logix platform.
Most of the US Amazon warehouses are controlled by CLXs with almost exclusively AS bus I/Os.
Been using it for valve control, works great as I get multiple solenoids and all feedback. Savves a lot on electrical design, conduit, wiring and is pretty straight-forward once you can sort out the address mapping.
that reminds me, Siemens sell these gateways that are difficult to remember the mapping, my preference are the third party ones, you can attach a laptop to, easier to understand and set up. With the Siemens ones, it always took me half an hour to re-aquaint myself with them.
IFM Effector and Peperl and Fuchs did good ones. Sure there are many more.
