Hello - my first post so I hope someone can help;

I am setting up a Red LIon G306 HMI to interface to a very awkward control system. The system sends out a frame of ASCII characters that I want to parse and display. Anyway I am trying it out on Crimson 3 in Emulator mode but no matter what I do I can't get the emulator to map the computers RS232 port (Com 1) to the GG306 port (port 2). I have tried the very basic examples given by RedLion for this mapping but no joy. I know that the PC is receiving data from the control system because I can see it in HyperTerminal.....any ideas?

Hello,

Make sure there are no other serial ports configured during your testing with the emulator. Can you send me your file?

Thanks
Jeremy

Thanks for the reply.

You sent me a response through the technical desk - that was to clear the programjing port. That works fine for writing to the RS232 (port 2) but at just now the emulator crashes when I try to read from the port.

Norm sent me an example code for all sorts of ASCII operations (read/write fixed and vairable lengths) and the emulator crashes with that as well so i don't think it is my code causing this.

The crash reports says;
