Hello,

I want to configure a DeviceNet Network with a 1770 KFD.

My DeviceNet Network is constitute by: a 1747 SDN, a CDN066 Mks, a 1770KFD.

I have connect the DeviceNet node of the CDN066 to the 1747 SDN, I want to know if I can connect also the DeviceNet 1770 KFD node to the 1747 SDN?
because the 1747 SDN have 10 pin DeviceNet node, can I connect both 5 pin of 1770 KFD to it and 5 pin CDN066 to it? to have a good network?

Thanks.

DeviceNet uses 5 (five) wires only; the 1747 10-pin connector serves as a "daisy-chain" hook up, however it still is a five wire connector with five parallel pairs of hook-up points.
Observing the connector's "wire color" mapping, you could connect the 1770-KFD RS232 interface module to one side of the 1747-SDN "10-pin" connector.

Ok, thank you for your replay :)

Please, I would like also to know:

when I am programming the CPU SLC503, I have to connect my PC to the CPU through a 1747 CP3 cable, this cable is connects to my PC via the COM1 port.

And When I want to use the 1770 KFD to configure the devicenet network, how do I have to connect the RS232 cable of the 1770 KFD on my PC while the 1747 CP3 is already connected to the COM1 for RSLogix?

Thank you for your help

Since your PC does not have but one Serial RS232 port, only one of the two software applications could be using it.

If you decide to use the PC Serial port for the RSLogix 500 "connection" to the SLC CPU, then you will have to connect RSNetWorx for DeviceNet via an USB-to-DeviceNet adapter such as the 1784-U2DN; $1690.00 List.

If you decide to keep the 1770-KFD Serial-to-DeviceNet adapter, you will need a USB-to-DH485 converter for connecting RSLogix 500 to the SLC CPU; 1747-UIC $467.00 List.

I believe the 1747-UIC is not Win7 compatible though.

Or you could use a USB to Serial Converter (Tripplite Keyspan USA-19HS is a very preferred one on here and other forums), to connect to the KFD via a serial comms cable - this would be a much cheaper option....

The converter will install as another COM port on your PC

1747-UIC does work with W7x64 I used it today to connect to a SLC503 with no problem, I am using RSLinx 3.6 and I connected the UIC to my computer and used Device Manager to find the com port number and then picked the UIC driver in RSLinx.

Ok, thank you for your replay :)

Please, do you know if I can plug both the DeviceNet cable of the 1770 KFD and the DeviceNet cable of the CDN066 CDN in an unsealed DeviceNet terminal plug in the 1747 SDN port?

Thanks
