heidenhain ls 503 problem

hi all,
i have an ls 503 heidenhain linear encoder, used to measure the axis movement length, the encoder reads the motion length of the axe, the problem is with the reference mark, the encoder doesn't recognize the reference point, so any hint will be really appreciated
