USB Port Joystick via opc server to PLC or DCS

I am currently looking at connecting joysticks via usb ports on an HMI PC and sending the joystick position data via an opc server to a PLC. I can't see why this cannot be done. We typically use kepserver, although this application we will be using DeltaV DCS.

Any ideas?
