ABB IRB 6000 Program unit Comm fault help!

Got a ABB IRB 6000 robot that is giving a Program unit comm Fault. Can't find any visual bad component and was able to get one initialization and all green till hit start program, then it gave 518 RIO com fault. now on power up all red lights dsqc 230 card is faulted and can't get to initialize. Is there a way to clear to square one and get to the point where I can get more than the comm fault? or is there something basic I am missing? Not well versed in robot but I guess this is trial by fire.

If I clear my fault on plc scan card and power down... I can power on and hit start and P on hand held and get the dscq 230 card to go green. If I try anything after this it is either "not allowed" or drives the robot to a program communication fault.

ok after the Start P I was able to reload program and parameters even though the handheld appeared as if the program was there. Now I am getting 509 sync error 2101 and it wants me to check measurements system, battery? according to the service manual.
