I want to buy the cheapest processor I can that uses RS5000 platform. I want to get more familiar with the software and need to practice. I just need the complete unit I heard they have a brick unit like a Micrologix. All help is appreciated.

The least expensive controller in the Logix 5000 family is the CompactLogix 1769-L16ER-BB1B.

It supports firmware version 20 or 21, has built-in USB and Ethernet, and 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs.

It supports I/O expansion using a small number of 1734-series POINT I/O modules.

Your A-B distributor will be able to give you a local price; that model should come in around $1460 USD.

Might be able to pickup a used 1769-L32E on Ebay a bit cheaper. Assuming it's coming out of your pocket.

Is $65.00 too much?

eBay,
1756-L1
Sort by lowest cost.

Of course you will need to buy a 1756 rack(Chassis), a 1756 power supply and 1756 I/O cards with this.

With the L32E you will need a 1769 power supply and 1769 I/O cards and a 1769-ECR.

With the L16ER all you will need is a 24volt DC supply.
