Hi,

I need to exchange some integers between SLC 5/04 and CompactLogix. I think I need to connect serial ports (set to RS232) in controllers to 1747-NET-AIC, and connect them with DH485 dedicated cable ( Belden #3106A or #9842 ). Then just set one read and one write MSG in CompactLogix.

Am I correct ? Or there is any way to make it simpler ?

Regards,

Matt

How far apart are the controllers ?

You can use RS-232 up to about 50 feet, and use RS-485 up to about 4000 feet.

Using RS-232 and DF1 Full Duplex protocol is easiest.

Using RS-485 and DF1 or DH485 protocol is a little harder, but you have the basic concepts correct.
