factorytalk studio

FactoryTalk View Runtime files (*.MER) cannot always be converted to FactoryTalk View project Archive files (*.APA).

This can be because the file was created prior to the MER -> APA feature being implemented in FactoryTalk View (version 4.0 and before), or because the programmer who created the *.MER specifically selected the option to not allow conversion.

You may be able to recover some of the project using techniques for v4 and earlier projects, by opening the *.MER file as a local FTView runtime and extracting some of the graphic and tag files. This is a complex process.

It is better and more complete to get the *.APA archive file directly from the programmer who supplied your machine system.
