Two CompactLogix Communication with each other

Hi all,

I want to communicate two compactlogix(Cat No. 1769 L33CR) controller with each other.

I am using 1761-NET-ENI as Interface between these two.

As I am new, can anyone explain how shall I Communicate??

Do you mean 1769-L33ER (I cannot find a L33CR listed anywhere), this has built in ethernet so you do not need the 1761-NET-ENI.

You could use messaging or produced and consumed tags.

Do you actually have a CompactLogix with ControlNet ?

1769-L32C was the single-media version, and 1769-L35CR was the dual-media version.

Ideally, you will use ControlNet to communicate between these two controllers, using Produced/Consumed Tags or MSG instructions.

Using a 1761-NET-ENI with CompactLogix is quite tricky because there were some firmware settings specific to CompactLogix in the early Net-ENI firmware.

The Net-ENI is fine for going online over Ethernet or some light-duty HMI work, but I would not use it for interlocking or communicating between CPUs.

Oops Its 1769-L35CR , and having one RS232 DF1 Serial and Redundant ControlNet Port. Any suggestion??

But the Problem is that we had already supplied 1761-NET-ENI to the customer. And distance between to PLC is about 80 meter(Cabling is already done). Now I have to manage.

You can communicate between both plc's by using data table read and write commands using Message instructions.

Do you know you network speed will be that of the serial port and not the Ethernet port.i think There is a free download that you will need in order to set
Up the net-eni. You will also need a cable to go from the net-win to the serial port. Set an up address in the net-eni and use the msg instruction.
Btw the plc has control net which will reach over 80 m and work a lot faster and also be much easier to setup
