It is a Type TC-R2B Model TC-R450X http://www.yamazen.com/products/brother/
The brochure says that it has Ethernet, the supplier knows little about the communications other than the "Ethernet port is to edit G-Code". They want to communicate via 16 inputs and 16 outputs. o_O
I am trying to determine if it supports any industrial protocols like Modbus TCP/IP or Profinet.

Russ,

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems as though they are all just communication methods for manually transferring programs and data files between a PC and the machine, using their Brother Comm software.

The advent of Ethernet on CNC machines was mostly just to speed up the transfer of programs to the machine's memory. I don't think many, if any, CNC manufacturers have embraced its true potential just yet? Higher end CNCs can have a PC/LAN card instead of a controller, with proprietary PC software for program transfers across Ethernet, but again, it's just for faster transfer of programs.

I've found this document outlining the steps involved for a slightly older Brother A00 control. The TC-R2B uses a newer B00 control, but I'm sure it's similar?

Regards,
George
