Hi,
I have a simple question:
In CM 1243-5 (6GK7243-5DX30-0XE0) datasheet its written that number of DP-slaves is up to 16. However, there are also two sections there: S7 communication and multi-protocol mode and they offer up to 8 connections for each. Im honestly a newbie, and i thought that S7-connection its a connection (via MPI, Profibus or Ethernet) that is configured in STEP7/TIA portal while muliprotocol mode allows PLC to communicate with PC, for example, through TCP/IP (using TRCV_C/TSEND_C as shown here:http://www.infoplc.net/files/descargas/siemens/infoplc_net_the_guide_about_tcpip_connections_between_pcs_and_siemens_plcs.pdf) . Is it right? So if we are talking about the number of slave devices that can be connected via profibus, there must be only 8 connections availible then...
In my case, i have to control 5 Micromasters 440 with profibus modules from a windows based PC using S7-1200 (CPU 1211C, 6ES7211-1BE31-0XB0) and CM 1243-5 (6GK7243-5DX30-0XE0). Is it possible? At the moment, i dont see any issue here because ill be using only 6 connections (5 profibus connections and 1 tcp/ip connection). But im not sure that im not mistaken, because i still need to clarify s7-connection and multiprotocol-mode definitions, so need your help..
