Hi all,

What are you using for intercoms between work stations?
We use the Atkins Dynamics wall mount intercoms.

They just are not very clear/poor audio quality, if the volume is turned up too high on a near by unit they feed back like crazy, and ambient noise drowns out the person trying to talk.

I feel like there should be a better intercom out there these days that are clear/good quality audio and robust.

Clear-Com is the de-facto standard in the Entertainment and Theater industries. Stagehands are known for treating equipment rather harshly, and the Clear-Com stuff holds up well. They work well in loud environments, especially the headset styles. You need a base station, and then you add any realistic number of connections for head/hand sets.

They make "telephone-style" handsets for their systems:

We use Gai-Tronics in the plant, overall they work rather well when setup properly. The biggest problem is the operators feel they have to scream into them and become unintelligible.

In a previous life, I worked for a large multi-national, and the global standard was GAI-TRONICS.
Top notch gear, back-in-the-day.

In a very much earlier life (U.S.Navy) we used "sound powered phones". Darn handy, especially in emergencies, or in panels where you need communications when the power is not available.
