FactoryTalk View Studio conversion from 5.1 to 7.0

I have a client who simply wants to change 7 hmi screens to have their name instead of the previous company that owned the leases name.

Problem is that after i convert the application from 5.1 to 7.0, change the name and try to recompile, it gives me an internal error and wont compile

I am running a Dell XP professional SP3 machine. The application is for a PanelView Plus 600.

Any other information you need just let me know. Im going to take some Screen shots here shortly for it.

So after you made your changes, you attempt to create a new Runtime. Now, the default there is to use the latest revision for the runtime. Did you change that revision?

The revision of the runtime cannot be newer than the firmware revision of the PanelView terminal itself. Since you said you were converting from 5.1 to 7.0, when you created the Runtime did you specify a revision 5.1 Runtime?

At first i did select 7.0, but i again tried this time to make a 5.1 app and still no luck.

So then screenshots. Show us what you are doing and the error you are seeing.

I must be a newb. I went through the process to do it again and screenshot it. And wouldnt you know it. I selected 5.1 and it compiled. Thank you for your help. (gives myself a nogan shake)

Rockwell has a Tech Note that indicates possibly an issue with RSLinx Enterprise. It might be as simple as opening RSLinx Enterprise and verifying the Device Shortcut has been created and applied to a controller.

The other gotcha, is that you MUST be sure to have the RSLinx Enterprise window closed before you create the Runtime. In earlier versions it did allow that window to be open, but not in Studio version 7.
