Why are these things anywhere from $150 - 250?

A unix bit by bit copy of the card doesn't work.

Anyone smart enough to reverse engineer the binary on the data portion to allow it to work w/ whatever is on the secure part?

No, I'm using my own program, just can't see spending so much on an sd card to send updates out to so many customers. I work for an OEM.
 
Well you could ask the customers to use unity loader (free) and send them the files to download?
 
There comes 8mb card with every cpu, but I remember that Schneider rep sayed, that card don't need to be original. I haven't tryed it still if non original card works.
