I have a 1756-OF8 with a 1492-AIFM8-3
Is it ok to wire the RTN to 0V? I ask because I have a chemical pump that has a stop signal that is referenced to 0V.
See attached PIC.
Pin 3 +4-20mA shares pin 4 which pin 1 also uses as it's reference.
When I have pin 4 just wired back to RTN on AIFM the stop command, applying +24vdc to pin 1 of the pump doesn't work but if I wire the RTN to 0V of my 24vdc power supply everything works fine.
What I'm not sure of is how this affects the 1756-OF8, that is having the RTN wired to 0V. Is this acceptable practice?
Thanks
