Alternative to 1747-UIC?

Saw this on Automation Direct: http://www.automationdirect.com/adc...onnectivity/USB-to-Serial_Converters/USB-485M

I was wondering if this would be a viable alternative to the UIC? The darn thing can be so frustrating sometimes (seems like it only connects when it feels like it), I'm wondering if this can be an improvement and how would one set it up (I'm thinking it'd be a DF1 driver?)

No, the 1747-UIC is also a protocol converter (DF1 to DH485) not just a USB to RS485 (DH485).

See link below for an alternative.
